An elegant Louis XVI style roll-top desk, crafted from mahogany and rosewood veneer, adorned with marquetry featuring geometric patterns in cubic perspective. The front of the cylinder displays a marquetry composition depicting a writing set comprising a parchment roll, an inkwell, and stacked books, all within a refined foliate setting. The top is made of Aleppo breccia marble, encircled by a gallery of finely chased and gilt bronze. The fluted uprights terminate in gilt bronze sabots, embellished with carved garlands. The handles and keyhole escutcheons are also in gilt bronze, decorated with foliate motifs and ornaments typical of the Louis XVI style. The cylindrical drop-front reveals a richly fitted interior with several small drawers in precious woods and a sheathed top. The frieze contains three drawers, including a wider central drawer flanked by two side drawers.
