An exceptional pair of Louis XVI-style sconces in gilt bronze with a blue patina. Shaped like tapered antique amphoras, they are adorned with five bronze light arms highlighted with twisted flutes, acanthus leaf and fruit cluster attachments. The shaft, adorned with three female masks with aigrettes and garlands of fruit, ends in a fall of foliage, trimmings and oak leaves with acorns. The sconces are held in place by gilded bronze ribbon bows. They are mounted on molded wooden plates.
These light arms are attributed to Henry Dasson or Alfred Beurdeley, after a model by Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843).
Circa: 1880
Condition report: in very good overall condition and electrified. Remarkable quality of chasing and gilding.
