An antique bronze oil lamp with a golden-brown patina, decorated with birds on branches and flowers in relief in the Chinese style . These elements are colored in various shades of brown, ochre, green, and red. The lamp rests on four scrolled feet, each surmounted by a Foo dog. Foo dogs—also known in the West as Foo lions—are the imperial guardian lions of China, traditionally called "shi" in China. It is complemented by a glass candle holder engraved with thyrses and ivy leaves. Two lamps are available, forming a pair. Circa 1880
Condition report: This pair of lamps is in very good condition, with some signs of wear on the bronze. They have been electrified and are in working order.
