A pair of gilt and patinated bronze candelabra. Three patinated bronze caryatids stand back-to-back on a white marble base. At their feet, delicate reliefs depict a procession of putti playing musical instruments. This frieze of putti is reminiscent of Clodion's relief work. The caryatids support on their heads a cushion and basket of fruit and flowers from which the three candle arms emerge. These arms are chased with foliage, and the sockets are decorated with interlacing patterns. At the center of the candle arms, a branch of patinated bronze lilies completes this composition.
This pair of candelabra is characteristic of the return to Greek or Roman Antiquity which developed in interior decoration and furniture at the end of the 18th century.
