Two gilt and chased bronze candelabra in the Troubadour style, decorated with figures illustrating courtly love. This represents a secret and idealized love, reserved for nobles, and dating from the medieval period. The four candle arms, richly adorned with fluting and foliage, are supported by a knight and a lady, standing on a small leafy plinth and a hexagonal base. The lady is elegantly dressed and holds a wreath of flowers. Flowers were often offered to the chosen one's sweetheart to encourage him before a tournament. Louis-Philippe period, circa 1840. Dimensions: W: 15cm, D: 15cm, H: 45cm. Both table candlesticks are in very good condition.
