A pair of Louis XVI style gilt and chased bronze candlesticks, remounted as lamp bases, dating from the 19th century. The fluted baluster base is punctuated by small cushions halfway up and rests on a tripod base ending in small claw feet. On each side of this base, a medallion depicting Jesus, Mary, and Joseph is set within a cartouche. The shaft is decorated with acanthus leaves, vine leaves, and leafy scrolls. The lamp, forming a torchère, is presented on a circular gilt bronze shell base, surmounted by a socket holding a cream silk pagoda shade edged with gold fringe. The central arm, activated by a lever switch, illuminates a bulb. Each torchère has a gilt power cord. Circa 1870
