A pair of Charles X period candlesticks in patinated and gilt bronze. The base is decorated with a frieze of palmettes and lotuses. The stem is adorned with caryatids representing vestal virgins dressed in antique tunics with their hair tied in turbans. The upper part of the stems is decorated with palm leaves. The bulbous socket has a filigree border and a frieze of small discs.
