A pair of twisted columns , dating from the 17th century, made of polychrome lacquered wood, decorated with branches bearing gilded flowers. They rest on molded bases and are topped with Ionic capitals linked by an egg-and-dart frieze. The sides of the capitals display two opposing flowers. Widely used during the Baroque period, similar columns can be found on the baldachin of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. This form is also called Solomonic columns, as they are said to have adorned the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem. Circa 1690
