A white, blue and gold hard-paste porcelain tabletop by Manufacture Samson, with an oblong base on which two caryatids, kneeling and draped in antique style, support the gilded basket. The basket is adorned with openwork interlacing and frieze-like palmettes. The reverse of this porcelain centerpiece bears an apocryphal red stamp of the "Manufacture de S.M. l'Impératrice "P.L. DAGOTY à Paris". Dagoty successfully produced similar fruit baskets, supported by caryatids, which were reproduced by Samson. These imitation Dagoty pieces (fruit baskets, plates, swan-cups, dinner services) bear the same mark in red: "Manufacture de S.M. l'Impératrice P. L. Dagoty à Paris". Late 19th century, Circa: 1890 Dim: W:34cm, D:34cm, H:34,5cm. In good condition, with a small break on the base and a small enamel flaw on one foot.
