pattern curtains by Fadini-Borghi and their valances , surmounted by a giltwood railing with a flowing, molded, and sculpted decoration of mascarons, flowers, and an egg-and-dart frieze. The curtains are made of cotton damask with a design of baskets overflowing with red flowers on a yellow background. The valances are decorated with three masks of elderly men, bearded and wearing feathered headdresses, in the center and corners. The curtains originally date from the 19th century, around 1850, but the hanging systems are modern. The curtains are fully lined in red cotton and can be lengthened slightly thanks to the deep hem. They have metal hooks for hanging, and the valances fasten with Velcro.
Fadini Borghi specializes in Italian luxury weaving. Now associated with Pierre Frey, it was founded in Turin in 1947 to create traditional Italian fabrics for furnishings, particularly damasks. In 1975, it acquired Borghi, a company specializing in Genoa velvets. With this exceptional expertise, they produce textiles inspired by their archives dating back to the 16th century. Since partnering with Pierre Frey, Fadini Borghi has focused on contemporary designs.
