A circular box in blackened wood from the Napoleon III period with a gilt bronze mount, chased with egg-and-dart motifs and florets. The lid is adorned with a painting under glass depicting a landscape with two couples by a river and a ruin in the background. The miniature probably dates from the early 19th century. The interior is lined with red velvet and is in very good condition. The box rests on four foliate feet. Signed on a brass plaque inside: "Maison Gouache" (active in the second half of the 19th century). Napoleon III period, circa 1870. Dimensions: L: 20cm, D: 20cm, H: 10.5cm.
