Abstract iron sculpture on square base by Fernand ROLLAND (b. 1920). Fernand Rolland was born in Auxerre on February 17, 1920. He moved into the outbuildings of the Château du Tremblay, his family's former holiday home, after the Second World War. After brief art studies and a career as a civil servant, letter carrier, farm worker and poultry merchant, he eventually tried to make a living from his writing and painting. In 1956, Jean-Louis Vetter joined him in Le Tremblay. The sculptor and painter put all their energy into bringing contemporary art to a wider public than the handful of initiates who were interested in it at the time. Fernand Rolland left behind an eclectic body of work ranging from poetry to colorful collage-paintings. He donated his works to the Conseil général de l'Yonne, and some of them are on display at the Centre d'Art Régional Contemporain du Tremblay. XX° period, Circa: Dim: W:17cm, D:17cm, H:76,5cm.
