Sculpture in bronze with a brown patina representing "La baigneuse aux roseaux", a young draped woman holding onto some reeds. At her feet is sculpted a small bird. On the terrace one finds the signature of Auguste Moreau. The whole rests on a circular base in marblecherry red. Auguste Moreau (1834-1917) was the son of the painter and statuary Jean-Baptiste Moreau. He began studying sculpture with his older brother Mathurin. He is related to the Moreau dynasty with his subjects and genre scenes, pastorals, allegories, and his realistic and graceful style.
