A large white biscuit porcelain basket featuring a putto guiding a prancing fawn adorned with a garland of flowers, harnessed to a richly molded chariot with rocaille decoration, resting on a base simulating rocky ground. The overall composition is dynamic, enlivened by supple lines and extremely fine modeling, particularly in the rendering of childlike volumes, the animal's coat and floral details.
The openwork basket with balusters is inspired by the flower vase models in vogue in the great European manufactures at the end of the 18th century, adapted here to a 19th-century Romantic aesthetic.
German work by the Richard Eckert & Co. factory in Volkstedt-Rudolstadt (Thuringia). Beneath the base, a blue mark of crossed swords, typical of this manufacture in the Meissen style, as well as the recessed numbers 7097 and 8.
Condition report: a few light chips visible on the floral crown.
