Figurine in biscuit porcelain depicting Psyche as an antique-style young woman gazing at a butterfly by torchlight. In ancient Greece, Psyche was a princess of great beauty, loved by Amour. She is often depicted with an oil lamp and her attribute is the butterfly. Here, Psyché is elegantly dressed in a flowing, finely pleated drape, revealing the contours of her body in the style of Antiquity. She wears a high belt and sandals adorned with a Medusa head. Her sophisticated hairstyle is raised into a bun, supported by a tiara. Printed mark under the base of Dione & Baury in Paris (registered in 1876). Late 19th century, Circa: 1890 Dim: W:26cm, D:32cm, H:80cm. In good condition, with a few black spots on the base.
