Large Louis XIV style mirror with mirror bars in blackened wood and rich gilded and embossed copper decoration. The pediment is adorned with a motif of a basket of overflowing flowers surrounded by two winged chimeras with open mouths. The central bevelled glass mirror has a double frame of carved wood and friezes of copper flowers enriched at the corners with baskets of flowers. This type of mirror was very fashionable from the reign of Louis XIV until the end of the 18th century.
