Tripod floor lamp in black-lacquered iron, based on a model by Jean Royère. It is fitted with a height-adjustable light arm (five positions) by means of a rack-and-pinion system. Refurbished yellow lampshade. Jean Royère (1902-1981) was a Parisian interior designer and a key player in the post-war modernist movement. From 1931, he trained in the cabinetmaking workshops of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine in Paris. In 1934, he designed the Carlton brasserie on the Champs Élysées and met with immediate success. It was the start of an international career that would take him into the early 1970s. A leading decorator of the avant-garde in the '50s, Royère tackled all types of decoration and opened agencies in the Middle East and Latin America. He introduced an original style combining bright colors, refined organic forms, precious materials and a poetic repertoire. It reflects the functional spirit of Scandinavian design, but also the ornament and attention to detail of Italian design. XX° period, Circa: 1950 Dim: W:30cm, D:64cm, H:184cm.
