Small ormolu and patina clock featuring porcelain flowers and a young woman holding a Chinese parasol in one hand and a container with drawers in the other. A turban headdress hides the woman's hair, and she is dressed in a long dress cinched at the waist with a scarf. Around her, a twisted tree with patinated bronze oak leaves and porcelain flowers carries the movement. It is set in a gilded bronze frame, finely chased with flowers and leaves. The curved base is representative of the rocaille style. Rooster movement. Under Louis XV, designers liked to play with contrasting materials. Porcelain elements were ordered by merchants from manufacturers and then delivered to craftsmen. Porcelain from different origins could be juxtaposed on the same piece.
