Exceptional Louis XVI stylecylinder desk in rosewood and mahogany marquetry, decorated with gilded bronze plates representing allegories: Music on the main sides and Sculpture on the sides. It opens with six drawers and a flap revealing a sliding shelf and six small drawers. The central drawer under the flap has a secret opening underneath it, which can be opened by pressing a button. The desk stands on four sheath feet. The top is made of Marble Fleur de Pêcher - historical Marble, used in the 19th century for exceptional creations, surrounded by an openwork gallery in bronze.
Attributed to the Maison Beurdeley, one of the most important dynasties of furniture makers in the 19th century (1818-1895), particularly appreciated for the quality of their bronze mounts and the choice of precious materials for the ornamentation of their furnishings. Directly inspired by a model by cabinetmaker Jean-Henri Riesener, executed in 1784 for the interior cabinet of Marie-Antoinette's small Tuileries apartment, and now in the Louvre Museum.
