Original edition, reupholstered in yellow Kvadrat fabric. A few scratches on the metal. Publisher's mark on base. Giancarlo Piretti (b. 1940, Bologna) is an Italian designer who has developed an innovative approach to seating (chairs, armchairs, recliners, etc.). His landmark creations include the "Alky" lounge chair (1969), the "Plia" chair (1969) and the "Plona" seat (1970). Giancarlo Piretti studied at the Instituto Statale d'Arte and then worked as a designer for Anonima Castelli, designing various ranges of furniture for over 20 years. Piretti collaborated with design greats such as Emilio Ambasz in the late 1970s. Together, they designed the ergonomic Vertebra and Dorsal chairs. Over the course of his career, the designer has received numerous awards, including the IBD, ASID, Compasso d'Oro and G-Mark prizes. Design period, Circa: 1970 Dim: W:54cm, D:48cm, H:78cm.
