APARTMENT BAR IN THE STYLE OF GIO PONTI, ITALIAN WORK FROM THE 1960S

Curved apartment bar with three pedestals, made in Italy in the 1960s by a follower of Gio Ponti (1891-1979). Four double legs in patinated brass accommodate the glass top and varnished rosewood veneer storage units. Each cabinet features a monochrome red, white and blue decorative panel on the front and lacquered niches with shelves or drawers on the inside. Slight traces of wear. Born in Milan in 1891, Gio Ponti attended the École Polytechnique from which he graduated in 1921. In 1928, he launched the magazine "Domus", dedicated to architecture and still published today. He soon became director of the Milan Biennale. He carried out numerous architectural projects throughout Italy. At the same time, Ponti created many design pieces, alone or in collaboration. One of his richest collaborations was with Piero Fornasetti. Gio Ponti, who died in 1979, is considered the icon of twentieth-century Italian architecture and design.
