An important Restauration period gilt and brown patinated bronze fire bar. It is composed of two patinated posts decorated with gilded bronzes in the form of acanthus leaves, rosettes and poppy flowers. They are surmounted by lying dogues on either side facing each other. This fire bar can be extended to fit the size of your fireplace.
The presence of dogs is a play on the origin of the word chenet, which was also called "chiennet" for small dog. This name comes from the habit that dogs often have of lying down in front of the fire. Thus, since the Middle Ages, andirons and firebars have often been decorated with dogs.
