Beautiful edition in biscuit depicting a scantily-clad young woman facing the cold wind, holding a lyre in her left hand. The original work by Maximilien Louis Bourgeois (1839 - 1901) was entitled "La cigale qui chanta tout l'été, se trouva fort dépourvu quand la brise fut venue".
Maximilien Louis Bourgeois was a pupil of Émile Thomas at the Beaux Arts in Paris, and exhibited at the Salon from 1863 until his death in 1901. He is known for his busts, statues and medallions.
