Bust of Madame Récamier in white Carrara marble after the neoclassical sculptor Joseph Chinard (Lyon, 1756-1813). Married to a wealthy banker from the age of 16, Juliette Récamier (1777-1849), a woman of spirit, entertained the greatest celebrities of the political, literary and artistic worlds in her home from the Directoire period until the July monarchy. Her salon was one of the most prestigious in Paris. In addition to her wit, she was also celebrated for her beauty. Nicknamed "la belle des belles", Juliette Récamier fascinated many artists, who painted her portraits.
