White marble bust of a bare-chested woman. The young woman looks to her left and smiles. Her hair is in two braids, pulled up over her head and in a bun, while the rest of her hair falls over her shoulder. This statue represents the allegory of victory, as she wears a laurel wreath embellished with a reed spike on her right side. In Antiquity, these female figures brought victory to the victors of wars or games. In the 19th century, the allegory of Victory regained prominence after the discovery of the Victory of Samothrace in 1863, exhibited in the Louvre around 1880. 19th century, Circa: 1880 Dim: W:37cm, D:20cm, H:47cm.
