Bust of a turbaned woman in veined marble and alabaster by Guglielmo Pugi (circa 1850-1915), an Italian sculptor active in Florence between 1870 and 1915. The turban and dress are finely embroidered. Signed on the back: "Pugi". This marble statuette, created towards the end of the 19th century, reflects the period's taste for polychrome sculpture and orientalism, which was still important in Europe at the turn of the century. Late 19th century, Circa: 1880 Dim: W:43cm, D:23,5cm, H:40cm. In very good condition, with three restored chips at the base and tiny natural holes in the entablature.
