CARTEL IN MARTIN VARNISH IN THE LOUIS XV STYLE

Martin varnish wall-mounted cartel with curved base, decorated with white, orange and red flowers on a green background. The chased gilt bronze dial with Roman and Arabic numerals in enameled cartouches is signed "BALTHAZARD à Paris". The pendulum is adorned with an antique mask. Beautiful ormolu ornamentation of flowering branches, birds and jagged foliage in the Louis XV style. The cartel rests on cambered feet decorated with fluting and foliage. The base is adorned with a scene from La Fontaine's "Fables": "The Raven and the Fox". 19th century. Circa: 1860 Dim: W:46cm, D:20cm, H:142cm. In good overall condition, with slight wear to the wood and a few missing parts. The movement has been cleaned, overhauled and is in working order.
