Elegant Art Deco period dressing table in rosewood topped by a round mirror. It opens with a small drawer in the waistband. Asymmetrical base composed of two uprights linked by a metal brace. Stamped "AD". Attributed to DOMINIQUE André Domin & Marcel Genevrière. Very good original condition. Founded in 1922 by André Domin (1883-1962) and Marcel Genevrière (1885-1967), Maison Dominique became famous for its avant-garde furniture with geometric forms, highlighting the cubist influence, enriched by a sober, elegant framework. Maison Dominique took part in numerous exhibitions, including the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs, where the company furnished the petit salon in the private apartments of Une Ambassade Française. In 1926, together with J. Puiforcat, P. Chareau, P. Legrain and jeweler R. Templier, it formed the "Groupe des Cinq", which exhibited and collaborated regularly. Seven years later, the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique commissioned the design of one of the four luxury apartments on its Normandie liner: the "Rouen" suite, named after Genevrière's birthplace. After the war, they were also commissioned by the Mobilier National, notably for the Palais de l'Elysée. After André Domin's departure in 1953, the firm continued to operate until 1970, under the management of Alain Domin, the founder's son.
