The "1-2-3 System" series by Verner Panton (1926-1998) initially comprised 20 different models, with variations in seat height, armrests and leg. More than a series, it's a true furnishing system, versatile and opening up multiple possibilities. The original order was for an entire furnishing program that combined a number of different functions with the minimum requirement of being very comfortable. The chairs were to have a simple, natural design, so that they could be incorporated into any interior and environment as a functional element. It took Panton 3 years to develop this series, and the result is a unique armchair concept that Panton developed both in design and function from a given theme. The original chair featured a lightweight tubular steel frame, a circular steel base and a removable cover. Some models in the series could be linked together to form rows. This series was complemented by 2 other systems: the "1-2-3 System Table" and the "1-2-3 System Room Divider". Design period, Circa: 1974 Dim: W:60cm, D:60cm, H:86cm.
