Large oil on canvas "The boat" signed Léon Hornecker. It is a peaceful landscape representing a large calm lake with trees in the left part. Two thirds of the composition is dedicated to the cloudy sky. The human presence is only hinted at by the presence of a drifting boat with oars in the foreground and a bridge in the background. This painting leaves a lot of room for nature and the play of light. The fine and delicate touch of the water and clouds becomes more elaborate for the vegetation. This painting is dedicated at the bottom left "to the friend R. Schuhl, [in] memory of friendship" and signed Léon Horn. The gilded and carved wooden frame is decorated with shells, cartouches and flowers.
