Art Nouveau lamp mounted on a sculpted and chased bronze vase, signed A. Clerget. This relief-sculpted lamp features a seated woman forming a handle, a sylvan head among vine and grape leaves winding around a spout. The shaft of this 1900 fixture is stylized with mermaids, supernatural creatures and fish slithering among waves. A white satin pagoda shade tops the lamp. The whole rests on a circular marble base. The sculpture is by Alexandre Clerget (1856-1931), a late 19th-century sculptor and goldsmith known for his Art Nouveau objets d'art.
