A gilded and patinated bronze lamp base, consisting of a circular fluted base with a floral motif stave, topped by a fluted shaft resting on a square base adorned with rosettes. Carcel lamps, developed by Guillaume Carcel in 1800, were equipped with a pump to regulate the flow of oil to the wick. Carcel lamps were reputed to be expensive and fragile, reserved for a wealthy clientele. Louis-Philippe period, Circa: 1840 Dim: W:13cm, D:13cm, H:51cm.
