Majestic mirror featuring a richly carved and gilded frame decorated with scrolls, pearl friezes, acanthus leaves and shells. The pediment is adorned with two musician cherubs in the round, on either side of a flowery cassolette, each holding a musical attribute (panpipes and lyre), classical symbols of the arts. The lower part is also decorated with two putti playing amidst garlands of fruit.
Decorative work typical of the Napoleon III period, inspired by neoclassical models from the reign of Louis XVI, but with a touch of exuberance and a style that favors sumptuousness and opulence.
Condition report: in very good structural condition. Original gilding cleaned and retouched.
