Pair of ormolu three-light sconces in the Louis XV style. The sconces are finely carved and chased with acanthus leaves and scrolling foliage. This rich, eventful decoration is typical of the Rocaille style, which flourished in France during the reign of Louis XV, and was a major inspiration for the decorative arts under Napoleon III. This pair of sconces features a squirrel on one and a heron on the other. Circa: 1900
