Pair of large patinated bronze torches mounted as lamps. Two pensive young ephebes, lightly covered in lion skin, one playing the flute and the other lost in thought, are leaning against a stylized tree decorated with flowers. The upper part of the trunk ends in an oil lamp. The palmettes base is enhanced by four curved feet. A blend of naturalistic and classical (Greco-Roman) motifs typical of this mid-19th century period. Louis-Philippe period, Circa: 1840 Dim: W:19cm, D:16cm, H:75cm.
