Pair of carved and chased gilt bronze candle-holders, raised to lamp bases, from the 19th century. The fluted baluster base is punctuated by small cushions at mid-height, and rests on a tripod base ending in small claw feet. On each side of the base, a medallion featuring Jesus, Mary and Joseph stands out in a cartouche. The shaft is decorated with acanthus leaves, pampers and foliate scrolls. The lamp is presented on a circular ormolu shell base, topped by a spigot housing a pagoda shade in cream silk belted with gilded fringed braids. The central arm is activated by a lever switch to light a bulb. Each torchiere has a gold-plated power cord.
