Louis XVI-style three-leaf screen in lacquered and gilded wood, decorated with oil-on-canvas paintings of stilt-walkers. Beveled glass is set into the upper part of the leaves. The wooden structure is finely carved with acanthus leaves, flowers and gilded ribbon scrolls. The central panel, slightly larger than the other two, is crowned with a wreath of roses tied with a ribbon. Each leaf is decorated with an animal painting on canvas depicting wading birds in their natural habitat: cranes among reeds, flamingos surrounded by palms and herons in a landscape of irises. These exquisite scenes illustrate the taste for exoticism and a return to Nature in the decorative arts of the Louis XVI style, reinterpreted in the 19th century. The back of the leaves is covered with plain green fabric.
