ART NOUVEAU PITCHER SIGNED ALEXANDRE VIBERT (1847-1909)

A baluster-shaped ormolu pitcher with a high, leafy handle, decorated in the round with a young female hunter. The body of the pitcher is adorned with flying wild ducks in a vegetal and aquatic décor. Signed in the decoration: "A. Vibert", and founder's stamp: "E. Colin et Cie Paris". Alexandre VIBERT (1847-1909) was a pupil of Emmanuel Frémiet and, like Frémiet, devoted a considerable part of his talents to the manufacture of decorative objects. He is essentially a representative of the Art Nouveau movement, and his sculptures, like his decorative objects, explore the decorative effects of various colors and materials.
