OUR HISTORY
Founded in 2001 by Frédéric Sioufi and Nidal Ouaiss, Galerie Atena was born in the heart of Paris, in the Louvre des Antiquaires, a stone's throw from the Louvre Museum. A couple united by life and a shared passion for works of art.
Nidal, the daughter of antique dealers and a former associate of Galerie Ouaiss, brings a proven heritage of expertise to the table.
Frédéric, who is passionate about 20th-century design and interior decoration, enriches the selection with a contemporary eye.
They were quick to understand the importance of digital technology, and were among the pioneers of online sales in their field. The early development of the site enabled them to weather the decline in attendance at the Louvre des Antiquaires.
In 2014, Galerie Atena left the Louvre des Antiquaires to set up shop in Le Vésinet, in a superb 1969 architect's house converted into a guest gallery, dedicated to twentieth-century design furniture.
At the same time, a vast showroom opens in Montesson to present decorative objects and furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries. A large on-site restoration and packaging workshop and photo studio complete the set-up. This integration of the value chain enables us to optimize costs and offer attractive prices.
Today, a new chapter begins for the gallery, as it moves into the magnificent Château de Peyraud in the Rhône Valley. A new showcase for the gallery's collection and a place to welcome, meet and create.
OUR VALUES
Since 2001, Frédéric and Nidal have selected each piece for its beauty, authenticity and state of preservation. Their quest for rarity and quality craftsmanship guarantees a selection whose value depends neither on fashion nor speculation. Curious and daring, they don't hesitate to invest in unusual pieces. Their greatest satisfaction: sharing this pleasure with their customers and building lasting relationships based on trust and a love of beautiful things.
