Sculpture in alabaster of a woman draped in the antique style Signed A. Del Perugia
Italian sculpture in alabaster representing a young naked woman in the antique style. The female figure is standing on a sculpted rock. A flowing drapery resting on her shoulder and ending at her feet, delicately covers part of her body. In a contraposto position, her two hands hold her hair in a delicate movement, suggesting that she is bathing. The face of this young woman reveals a jovial smile and finely hollowed almond-shaped eyes. The final execution gives this body a great plasticity and, to the drapery, a significant role in the illustration of the sensuality of the figure. The alabaster highlights the flesh of this statuette by its naturally warmer color. The whole rests on a circular base with steps. This statue of a woman perfectly illustrates the taste for the Antique and the Greco-Roman canons in the 19th century. Signed on the back of the base "A. Del Perugia" (19th-20th).
