PIEDESTAL IN VERT DE MER MARBLE AND ORNAMENTATION OF CHASED AND GILDED BRONZES

Sheath in Vert de Mer marble decorated with chased and gilded bronzes. The quadrangular spindle-shaped shaft is decorated with a torch surrounded by a leafy wreath and a knotted ribbon. At the top, three wreaths of foliage are interlaced and tied with a ribbon. The column rests on four small rectangular feet in gilded bronze. The base and the astragal are decorated with stripes of hearts. This column is characteristic of the Louis XVI style.
