The sculpture is made of alabaster and marble. The young child, in alabaster, wearing a short open shirt, has fallen asleep with his legs crossed. His hair is left long and forms a curl around his left ear. He uses a book with the first four letters of the alphabet as a pillow, straddling the back of the bench. The bench, made of pink marble, is finely carved with floral and plant motifs. The connecting dice are decorated with gules of lions. The figure stands on a rectangular base.

This is a 19th century work.
