Suite of 15 adjustable tripod candleholders in chromed metal model S22 and a PVC planter. The candleholders are stackable and can be assembled in different ways. This set was produced in Germany by the Nagel company in the 1970s. It comes with 17 white, yellow and green candles.
In 1965, Hans Nagel and his architect friend Werner Stoff developed a system for assembling candlesticks. Their research led to the Nagel S22 candlestick, the very first modular tripod candlestick with a highly futuristic design, which would later inspire others (BMF, Quist...). The candleholders can be nested endlessly to create personalized compositions. Nagel produced other models in the early 1980s, but they did not enjoy the same commercial success as the S22 model and are therefore very rare.
