VERY LARGE STILL LIFE WITH FLOWERS BY GASPARE DEI FIORI (1667-1732)

Very large still life depicting a rich floral composition, with falling flowers and fruit against a background of architectural and landscape elements. The vases from which the bouquets of flowers spring are placed in front of an antique fountain. Created around 1850 after Gaspare Lopez known as "Gasparo dei Fiori" (Naples, 1667- Florence, 1732). Technique: oil on canvas.

Gaspare Lopez, Baroque painter "Gaspare dei Fiori" was an Italian painter active in Naples and later in Rome and Florence, producing important still lifes of flowers and fruit. Our painting takes up the typical theme of Lopez, who specialized in compositions dominated by large flower falls and illustrated outdoors among architectural and natural elements: rocks, fountains, porticos, columns and vases. The abundance of his floral decorations, the particularly elaborate setting and the theatrical staging are characteristic of the Baroque period.
