Large Louis XV style chandelier in chased and gilded bronze, with nine arms of light and eighteen moving lights. The baluster-shaped shaft is openwork and richly decorated with rocaille, florets and jagged foliage, and extends onto nine light arms formed of acanthus-leaf scrolls. The wicks bear bud-shaped chalices. With its twisted forms and rich decoration of intertwined foliage and rocaille motifs, this luminaire is a fine example of Rococo-style pieces produced during the reign of Napoleon III. Circa: 1880
