Pair of curtains and valance topped by a gilded molded wood banister. The curtains are made of red brocade fabric, decorated with vases overflowing with flowers in diamond-shaped vegetal friezes. The scalloped-edged valance is in the same fabric. The banister is carved with a moving décor featuring masks of bearded men with feathered headdresses in the center and corners, and vegetal ornamentation of acanthus leaves, friezes of flowers and a stripe of ovals. The curtains are attached with metal hooks, and the valance is fastened to the banister with Velcro. The curtains were custom-made to match this mid-19th-century gilded wood banister.
