Views of the arrondissements of Parisby artist Orfeo TAMBURI for the 20+1 series. These engravings are in etching and aquatint. Signed in pencil by the artist, they were published by Il Cigno in Rome between 1979 and 1981. The publisher's stamp is on the lower right of the work. These are limited editions of 130, framed in light wood, artist's proofs (P.A.). Each engraving is accompanied by a booklet of text and drawings illustrating each arrondissement of Paris.

1st arrondissement - Louvre, or from the branches of a dry tree, "strada di seza" (evening road) in the Louvre district, with a view of the booksellers.

5th arrondissement - Panthéon or some great antediluvian men, "casa hôtel" in the Panthéon district

17th arrondissement - Batignolles-Monceau or big bourgeois and small rentiers, "strada e nuvole" (road and clouds) Batignolles - Monceau district

18th arrondissement - Butte Montmartre or La Butte Sacrée, "La casa nera" (the black house) quartier Butte Montmartre

Orfeo TAMBURI (1910-1994) was an Italian painter and engraver. He is best known for his depictions of the urban fabric. His passion for etching and warm-toned prints with broad lines was inspired by Cézanne. In the 60s, he was hired by Fortune magazine to depict the major cities of the United States. In 1971, he moved to Paris and illustrated the capital. That same year, the Italian President awarded him the Gold Medal of Cultural Merit for his body of work.
