Alabaster sculpture depicting a putto seated on a low brick wall, his foot resting on a book. He is leaning over his drawing tablet, which bears the inscription: "CANOVA". Napoleon III period. Good condition. Based on a model by Charles-Gabriel Sauvage dit Lemire: "Enfant dessinant", created circa 1795. With its counterpart "Enfant lisant", the two bronze statuettes after Lemire are in the Louvre Museum.
