Created at the end of the 19th century, this allegorical Art Nouveau bronze statue depicts Night as a young woman standing on a cloud. She is dressed in a light tunic and holds a flower in her left hand. The crescent moon appears behind her. Signed on the terrace: "Caussé". Condition Bronze statue in very good condition, with slight traces of verdigris on the base. Documentation Julien Causse (1869-1914) was a French sculptor born in Bourges, and a pupil of Alexandre Falguière. His work was exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in the 1890s, where he won honorable mentions in 1892 and 1900 and a third medal in 1893. He also took part in the 1900 Universal Exhibition.
