THREE ENGRAVINGS BY ORFEO TAMBURI OF THE PARIS ARRONDISSEMENTS

Engravings by Orfeo TAMBURI representing the arrondissements of Paris for the Paris 20+1 series, etching and aquatint. They are signed in pencil by the artist and published between 1979 and 1981 by Il Cigno in Rome. The stamp is visible in the lower right-hand corner of the print. Artist's proofs (P.A). Each engraving is accompanied by a booklet of text and drawings illustrating each arrondissement of Paris.

2nd arrondissement - "Bourse or the comings and goings of a suit that makes the monk".

3rd arrondissement - "Temple or a very royal end of beans

4ème arrondissement - "Hotel-de-Ville or a large lot coated with cultural strength".

Orfeo TAMBURI (1910-1994), Italian painter and etcher, is known for his depictions of urban life. Inspired by Cézanne, he developed a passion for etching and warm-toned prints with broad lines. In the 1960s, he was commissioned by Fortune magazine to depict numerous cities in the United States. In 1971, he moved to Paris, illustrating the metropolis in all seasons. That same year, the Italian President awarded him the Gold Medal for Cultural Merit.
